Amazon advertises for a digital currency and blockchain lead

Amazon is seeking a ‘Digital Currency and Blockchain Product Lead’ as part of plans to bring its payments systems into the crypto space.

The position will be based in Seattle and the successful applicant will work within Amazon’s Payments Acceptance & Experience team.

According to the official job posting, the company is searching for “an experienced product leader to develop Amazon’s digital currency and blockchain strategy and product roadmap”.

“You will leverage your domain expertise in blockchain, distributed ledger, central bank digital currencies and cryptocurrency to develop the case for the capabilities which should be developed, drive overall vision and product strategy, and gain leadership buy-in and investment for new capabilities,” the posting continued.

The company added the person will work closely with teams across Amazon including AWS to develop the roadmap including the customer experience, technical strategy and capabilities, as well as the launch strategy.

The founder of the Bitcoin Alpha Fund – Tuur Demeester – recently predicted that Bitcoin’s price would go up if, among others, Apple and Amazon start accepting the cryptocurrency as payment.
