AMC Theatres will accept Shiba Inu as payment, says CEO

Customers at AMC Theatres could soon pay for tickets with Shiba Inu (SHIB), according to its CEO, Adam Aron.

Aron has already proved his support for the cryptocurrency industry by planning to accept the likes of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, Litecoin, and Bitcoin Cash in AMC theatres by the end of 2021.

The CEO took to a Twitter poll to ask the public whether AMC should plan to accept Shiba Inu to its growing list of cryptocurrencies.

The overwhelming majority of those who voted for Shiba Inu to be the next addition to the list of cryptocurrencies AMC will accept has empowered Aron to take that next step as he confirmed that Shiba will be ‘the next one on our cryptocurrency hit parade.’

While Aron said AMC will accept the previously mentioned cryptos by the end of 2021, he recently confirmed the theatres will be ready to accept payment in the form of cryptos in the first quarter of 2022.

Rise of the memecoins

The year 2021 could quite possibly be referred to as the year of the memecoins.

As of today, Dogecoin and Shiba Inu find themselves ranked in the top 11 of the biggest cryptocurrencies in the world, according to CoinMarketCap.

Both memecoins now find themselves on the same side with AMC Theatres as they look to build on what has been a meteoric rise for both to the top table of the cryptocurrency food chain.
