Premier League giant Arsenal has teamed with blockchain firm Fantastec to enable users to own, trade, and collect digital items through the Swap app.
Fantastec is a London-based blockchain firm. The company runs the Swap platform, which grants users the ability to trade digital collectables.
Arsenal has become the first football club to join Fantastec Swap. Fans will now be able to own and trade club-specific digital collectables.
The partnership with Arsenal football club means avid fans will be able to trade with players such as Pierre Emerick-Aubemeyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Lucas Torreria, and Mesut Özil.
Arsenal WFC stars will also be available for trading, including Vivianne Miedema, Jordan Nobbs, and Leah Williamson.
Fans will be able to unlock digital player profiles, which will include original video content filmed by both the men’s and women’s teams, and some of the digital collectables will also feature authenticated digital autographs.
The app is free to download and all content is officially licensed.
Arsenal’s Commercial Director Peter Silverstone noted: “As football fans, many of us remember collecting and swapping player cards with friends. This initiative with Fantastec Swap brings that concept into today’s digital world and gives our fans access to unique Arsenal collectables and content wherever they are in the world.”
The Swap app encourages fans to build their squad collection by purchasing in-app team packs, similar to how fans would go to a shop to purchase a pack of player cards or stickers.
The blockchain platform also offers social networking features, such as connecting with other fans to build trust and confidence swapping items in the same way you would in person.
The Swap app is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play across the globe.
