US telecom and media juggernaut AT&T has announced that it will now be accepting cryptocurrency as payment for phone bills.
According to an official press release, AT&T will process bills paid in cryptocurrency using crypto payments platform BitPay.
BitPay is a platform that converts cryptocurrencies to fiat and is used by more than 20,000 businesses worldwide. AT&T is reportedly the first United States-based business in the wireless network industry to offer bill payments with BitPay.
BitPay is an online payment service that provides Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash payment processing solutions for businesses. The firm has created a seamless and secure Bitcoin payment service that thousands of cryptocurrency users and businesses experience and use every day.
AT&T customers have been notified that they will now be able to select BitPay as a payment option when they log on to their online accounts or through the myAT&T app.
Kevin McDorman, Vice President of AT&T Communications Finance Business Operations, said: “We’re always looking for ways to improve and expand our services. We have customers who use cryptocurrency, and we are happy we can offer them a way to pay their bills with the method they prefer.”
