The latest artwork from NFT artist Beeple sold for an astonishing $29m at a Christie’s auction last night.
Titled ‘Human One‘, the artwork was the artist’s first venture into ‘physical’ NFTs and artwork in the form of a ‘kinetic video sculpture’ alongside an accompanying non-fungible token (NFT).
The artwork features a “lone astronaut, forever striding through the wastes of a vaguely familiar world” and is capable of changing its visuals based on the time of day and other random factors.
The accompanying NFT also features a similar aesthetic of an astronaut walking through a futuristic environment seemingly set in space.
Following the Sale, Beeple took to Twitter to say he is “still in absolute disbelief of reality” and to also thank his parents for their support.
He also thanked his followers for their appreciation of the artwork, sayin:g “Thank you so much to everyone for all of the kind words on this piece.”
‘Human One’ was part of the Christie’s ‘21st Century Evening‘ collection, which featured artwork from Banksy and Damien Hirst.
Beeple, whose real name is Mike Winkelmann, has become a prominent part of the NFT space since he sold ‘EVERYDAYS: THE FIRST 5000 DAYS‘ on March 11 for an impressive $69.3m.
He also sold ‘OCEAN FRONT‘ for $6m to Tron founder Justin Sun, with the proceeds from the sale donated to charity.
