Bitfinex Pay launches to offer merchants crypto payment options

Online merchants can now accept digital assets and cryptocurrencies with relative ease by using the Bitfinex Pay technology

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex has launched Bitfinex Pay, a payment technology that provides online merchants with a way of receiving contactless digital token payments.

According to a press release shared with Coin Rivet on Tuesday, the Bitfinex Pay widget can be integrated onto a website that facilitates online payments.

So far the currencies available on the Bitfinex Pay technology include Ethereum, Bitcoin and Tether, with additional options to support the BTC Lightning Network.

“This is the age of digital money and with Bitfinex Pay we’ve created an intuitive and seamless way for online merchants to receive payments in crypto,” said Paolo Ardoino, CTO at Bitfinex.

“Bitfinex Pay enables merchants to be easily equipped to support crypto payments as increasing numbers of consumers become more comfortable with paying for goods and services using digital tokens.”

Merchants will receive payments directly into their respective Bitfinex accounts, while customers simply click on the Bitfinex Pay button on the integrated technology to be directed to the payment gateway.

The value of payments using the platform is capped at $1,000. There will also be no processing fees for using Bitfinex Pay aside from the regular blockchain fees.
