American entrepreneur, former actor and famous crypto-advocate Brock Pierce has confirmed he intends to run for a seat in the US Senate after he filed a ‘statement of organisation’ with the US Federal Election Commission.
A year after a failed attempt to run for President of the US, Pierce tweeted that he was mulling the seat of retiring Vermont Senator Patrick Leahy.
He claimed he spent $6m of his own money on the campaign for the White House.
“The first run was the exploratory mission to understand the mechanics of running a national campaign without the infrastructure of a major existing political party,” he confirmed, adding that he thinks his basic training has been completed.
“Running for the highest office in the world is stepping into the ultimate ring of fire – you are inviting in every decision you’ve ever made in your life to be scrutinised.”
One of the principal founders of Tether, Pierce is also the Chairman of the Bitcoin Foundation and co-founder of EOS Alliance, Block.one, Blockchain Capital, and Mastercoin (first ICO) and, reportedly, the advisor of NYC Mayor-elect Eric Adams.
Adams recently claimed that he paid his way to a post-election political retreat in Puerto Rico on what many assumed was a commercial flight, telling reporters the trip was on “my dollar, my dime and my time.”
However, sources claims he flew to San Juan on Pierce’s private jet.
According to the rumours, the three had dinner with Governor Pedro Pierluisi of Puerto Rico, an island that Pierce once dreamed of turning into a ‘Burning Man Utopia’.
