The exodus of blockchain start-up ConsenSys seems to be continuing with developer Bob Summerwill now departing to join Ethereum Classic Cooperative as the company’s new executive director.
ConsenSys is a production studio of Ethereum, and like many start-ups in the space, they have struggled during 2018’s bear market, laying off 13% of their staff in December.
Summerwill will assist the Ethereum Classic Cooperative with the growth and development of the Ethereum Classic token. He will also be tasked with overseeing the development of peaceBridge, which is a bridge that transfers ETC and ETH between two networks.
In an announcement on Medium, Summerwill said:
“I would like to heal the wounds of the past, and to help everyone get past this zero sum thinking. I would like the ETC community to be seen as it actually is, a strongly principled group of people who develop useful technology, rather than an ideologically driven group of zealots with no technical development.
“I would like people to be hacking on Emerald at ETHDenver. I would like to work with IOHK on getting Mantis into Hyperledger, and having codebases which support ETC, ETH, and enterprise scenarios.”
He added: “There are so many opportunities for collaboration across the whole blockchain space. If we want the potential of blockchain to be realised, we should be working together, not fighting amongst ourselves.
