Winklevoss-backed exchange Gemini has launched a new mobile app that they hope will encourage more retail customers to trade on the go.
The Gemini mobile app can be downloaded today from the Apple and Google Play app stores.
Gemini have a company goal to build the future of money. They intend to do this by creating a licensed cryptocurrency exchange with custodian services that allows customers to buy, sell, and store cryptocurrency in a fully compliant manner.
The new mobile app will have the ability to buy and sell assets, view prices and portfolio value, send and receive cryptocurrency, and even buy “the cryptoverse” – a basket of cryptocurrencies weighted by market capitalisation.
Gemini is looking to appeal to both crypto experts and newcomers, stating: “We’ve made engaging with crypto easy and secure by extending Gemini’s trusted platform to mobile. The Gemini mobile app combines our institutional-grade security with a simple and intuitive experience.”
Cameron Winklevoss told Bloomberg that the new app allows a shift in focus from institutional to retail clients for Gemini. He said, “A lot of our decisions have perhaps given off a perception that we’re more institutional based. The reality of the situation is that we have a diverse customer base. And the retail story is just beginning.”
“We’ve spent the last three years building the world’s most trusted cryptocurrency platform, and today we are excited to extend it into the hands of our customers.”
