Shiba Inu records its highest ever number of holders

The Shiba Inu (SHIB) community continues to grow after reaching a milestone of more than 1.145 million holders – an all-time high for the cryptocurrency.

WhaleStats, the blockchain analytics platform, posted the news on its Twitter page as well as stating how much SHIB is being held by the top 1,000 Ethereum wallets, proving to be a popular altcoin with Ethereum whales.

The platform also reported Shiba Inu’s achievement of one million holders which it surpassed November.

Just four days ago, SHIB had 1,140,151 wallet owners, trailing BabyDoge which possessed 1,226,253 wallets despite SHIB leading the way between the two meme coins in both market capitalisation value and a higher trading volume.

It’s been a lively start for SHIB in 2022 which looks set to launch its own layer-2/blockchain called Shibarium to help lower transaction fees as well as to cope with the growing usage on the network.

Issues with CoinMarketCap

It hasn’t been all sunshine and roses for SHIB so far this year as it accused CoinMarketCap of knowingly listing three fake contract addresses for the coin in a statement they posted on Twitter.

CoinMarketCap responded to SHIB’s accusations on Twitter and said the SHIB team did not go through official channels to contact them.

Shytoshi Kusama, a volunteer project lead for Shiba Inu, retweeted a post from Twitter user @wenfloat, who said “If you are going to allow scammers to add false contracts in our page (WE ARE ONLY ERC-20), you should delist SHIB.

“At least you won’t be collaborating with scams. You’ve ignored us for months; where’s your professionalism?.”
