Elon Musk: Twitter crypto scambots have ‘mad skillz’

The scambots pretend to be the accounts of high profile tweeters, then offer fake crypto giveaways to fool new users and crypto investors, armed with retweets and likes bought from click and troll farms.

After fraudulent accounts appeared on his feed, Musk tweeted: “I want to know who is running the Etherium scambots! Mad skillz…”

Enter Vitalik Buterin, the Co-creator of Ethereum, who called on Jack Dorsey, the Founder and CEO of Twitter, to get to grips with the issue. “I do wish Elon Musk first tweet about ethereum was about the tech rather than the twitter scambots…….. Jack, help us please? Or someone from the ETH community make a layer 2 scam filtering solution, please?” he said.

Earlier this year, Cornell Professor Emin Gun Sirer hit out at Twitter for their inability to get on top of the situation. “These scams are getting out of hand. Jack, Twitter, if you can’t detect this kind of brazen scam, what hope do you have of improving your platform?” he asked.

To which Dorsey responded: “We are on it”.
