John Lennon’s son Julian has launched the bidding for items which will be sold as non-fungible tokens as part of ‘Lennon Connection: The Beatles NFT Collection’.
The NFTs are being sold as audio-visual collectibles along with Julian’s narration that will go together with images of the items.
The sale includes items such as the black cape John Lennon wore in ‘Help!’, as well as Paul McCartney’s handwritten notes for ‘Hey Jude’.
However, potential bidders are being reminded that the items up for sale are one-of-one blockchain tokens — the real coat, McCartney’s physical notes, and all the other original items will stay in Julian Lennon’s possession.
“Through this NFT collection, I’m able to grant exclusive access to special items that I cherish and carry on the legacy of my father in a new way,” Julian commented.
The items are being sold in partnership with Julian’s auction house and Yellow Heart NFT.
According to the official explanation, the items are brought to life in an even more personal way through Julian Lennon’s exclusive audio narration, which is minted as part of the NFT.
“A NFT is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on the blockchain,” the auction house said.
“Julian Lennon is the sole owner of the physical item. The winner of this item will share in that exclusivity of Lennon history as the sole owner of the NFT.”
The online auction will be held on February 7, though bidding and registration has already begun.
