Blockchain technology has gained considerable attention, with an escalating interest in a plethora of numerous applications, ranging from medicine and healthcare to data management, financial services, cyber security, IoT, and food science.
The technology’s role in delivering safe and secure healthcare data is crucial. Blockchain technology has already significantly transformed traditional healthcare practices, especially in terms of safe and secure data sharing. But in the future, medicine and healthcare could be improved with a personalised, authentic and secure healthcare service. The entire real-time clinical data of a patient’s health and treatment can be tracked, stored and shared.
In this paper, the authors review both the existing and latest developments in the field of healthcare by implementing blockchain as a model. They also discuss the applications of blockchain, along with the challenges faced and future perspectives in medicine and healthcare.
