The eagerly anticipated lunch between billionaire Warren Buffett and Tron founder Justin Sun will take place “very soon”, according to the plucky 29-year-old.
The lunch was originally set for July 25 but was postponed by Sun due to apparent medical issues, although several sceptics speculated on whether legal trouble had prevented the tech entrepreneur from leaving China.
Two months later, during a live stream on Tuesday, the controversial Tron founder confirmed the lunch will still go ahead, going so far as to say it will take place “very soon”.
The meeting is due to take place after Justin Sun won an eBay auction to have lunch with Buffett, paying a whopping $4,567,888 to do so.
The lunch invitation has been passed around to several figures in finance and cryptocurrency, with an invitation even being extended to the United States President Donald Trump.
In July, prior to the initial postponement, Sun wrote: “Mr President, you are misled by fake news. Bitcoin and Blockchain happens to be the best chance for US! I’d love to invite you to have lunch with crypto leaders along with Warren Buffett on July 25. I guarantee you after this lunch, nobody will know crypto more than you!”
In the past, Buffett has been critical of Bitcoin and its underlying technology, claiming that “it doesn’t do anything but sit there” and that “it’s not an investment”.
