IOST announces partnership with NeoWorld to launch blockchain-based virtual world

IOST has announced a partnership with NeoWorld to bring IOST Land — a blockchain virtual world built by users — to its community members.

The partnership was announced by IOST in a Medium blog post.

As per the announcement, NeoWorld was the “world’s first large blockchain virtual world” gaining a daily average unique user peak of 23,000 during its closed beta testing.

IOST has placed strong emphasis on its decentralised application (dApp) ecosystem development since its beginning. The announcement cites an interview with IOST’s CEO, Jimmy Zhong, stating:

“We don’t want a lot of zombie dApps with only miners and short-term users. We diligently select development teams in order to secure success by quality and to provide optimal infrastructure for excellent dApps. We aim to guide more developers to create valuable and multifaceted applications on IOST.”

The new partnership should help bring a more multifaceted dApp ecosystem for IOST and, in return, it will be providing NeoWorld with user acquisition, dApp exposure and technical support through multiple dApp discovery platforms.

Part of the announcement reads: “in less than two months after the launch of mainnet, IOST has officially become the big four public chains alongside Ethereum, EOS and Tron”.

IOST has several upcoming developments such as ‘OnBlock’ and multiple user growth programs in progress. On this basis it is excited to work hand-in-hand with developers and its community to build the “world’s first” scalable and decentralised blockchain project.

IOST Land is scheduled for mainnet launch in May 2019 with the goal of delivering an “amazing virtual world gaming experience for the IOST gaming community.”

Whereas NeoWorld is a multiplayer online virtual 3D world that is blockchain-based and Unity powered. It recently finished its closed beta testing and has now entered its alpha testing phase.
