L'Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) ha lanciato un servizio basato sulla blockchain che rende più sicura la distribuzione dei biglietti, impedendo la replica e la duplicazione dei biglietti.
I biglietti per la recente gara di Supercoppa UEFA tra Real Madrid e Atletico de Madrid sono stati venduti sul nuovo sistema.
«La UEFA ha distribuito il 100% dei biglietti delle partite venduti al grande pubblico attraverso la distribuzione di un'app dedicata per iOS e Android basata su blockchain», afferma UEFA. «La UEFA sta cercando di rendere il suo processo di vendita dei biglietti per le partite più semplice e sicuro. Per raggiungere questo obiettivo, ha scelto un sistema di distribuzione dei biglietti basato sulla blockchain combinato con dispositivi mobili Bluetooth agli ingressi dello stadio.»
Il sistema è stato utilizzato per il 50% dei biglietti distribuiti al pubblico per la finale di UEFA Europa League 2018 tra Atletico e Marsiglia a Lione.
La UEFA afferma che continuerà a sviluppare il sistema, con l'obiettivo di utilizzarlo in occasione di eventi futuri.
