Virgil Abloh planned to enter Web3 space

Louis Vuitton director Virgil Abloh, who passed away on Sunday, had ambitions of launching a DAO and NFTs.

Abloh, founder of Off-White, died of cancer in sudden news that rocked the fashion industry.

The 40-year-old had become a pioneer in fashion, art, music and according to Fred Ehrsam – co-founder of Paradigm and Coinbase – the fashion designer was on the brink of conquering the digital space.

The managing partner of Paradigm took to Twitter to pay his respects to Abloh and shared a document demonstrating a DAO the fashion legend had envisioned.

Ehrsam tweeted that Abloh in his own words said that the Web3 space was an opportunity to: “Inch us a little closer toward a utopia for creativity”.

“Having broken down barriers with record labels and fashion houses to become a wildly successful entrepreneur, he wanted to fundamentally change the balance of power in favour of creators,” Ehrsam said.

He then revealed what would have been Abloh’s first NFT and encouraged Twitter users to save the image, adding it’s what Abloh would have wanted.

While the Louis Vuitton creative head was unable to release a solo collection of NFTs, he did collaborate with famous skateboarder Stevie Williams, releasing a limited edition of skate deck NFTs that dropped on the Portion marketplace.
