9 月、IBMは中国の電子商取引の巨人 Alibabaの後ろに、iPR Dailyリストで、提出したブロックチェーン関連の特許の数でグローバル組織をランク付けしたことを報告しました。
メディア・アウトレットは、中国、EU、アメリカ、日本、韓国の8 月 10 日までのデータを使用し、世界知的財産機関（WIPO）の国際特許制度に相談しました。
アリババは90のブロックチェーン関連の特許出願を提出し、IBMは89と緊密に遅れていました。
