Tech magnate and crypto advocate John McAfee has taken to Twitter to address the casting of Michael Keaton in a film about his life.
King of the Jungle will be directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa (I Love You Phillip Morris), from a script by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (Ed Wood), based on the Joshua Davis Wired magazine article ‘John McAfee’s Last Stand’.
Keaton replaced Johnny Depp to take the lead role. Seth Rogen will portray Wired’s Ari Furman, who accepts what he thinks is a run-of-the-mill assignment to interview McAfee but then gets sucked into a world of escalating paranoia, slippery reality and murder.
Keaton was nominated for an Academy Award for his performance in Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance). And he’s also IMHO the best Batman, though Christian Bale comes a close second. He can next be seen in Tim Burton’s Dumbo, set for release at the end of the month.
McAfee, however, is not a fan.
Hollywood? Michael Keaton replaced Johnny Depp to play me in King of the Jungle. I know him not. Met him twice – parties. Said less than 5 words: "Where's the fucking booze" anyway I DM'd him explained
I was black with a skin ailment and pissed they chose him. Never responded. pic.twitter.com/nkiArjJqAH— John McAfee (@officialmcafee) March 22, 2019
Give him a chance, John. He’s a great actor and will nail the role, we reckon. After all, he didn’t look much like McDonald’s boss Ray Kroc but turned in an excellent performance in The Founder.
