Kurt Russell to star in cryptocurrency movie

Veteran actor Kurt Russell has signed on for an indie film entitled Crypto.

Currently shooting in New York, this is pitched as a thriller in the vein of The Firm and The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. It centres on a young anti-money laundering agent (Beau Knapp) tasked with investigating a tangled web of corruption and fraud in his remote New York hometown, where his father (Russell) and brother (Luke Hemsworth) are struggling to maintain their family farm in a changing economic landscape.

The agent quickly finds himself enmeshed in a dangerous underworld populated by a mysterious art dealer (Alexis Bledel), a cryptocurrency enthusiast turned cyber-sleuth (Jeremie Harris) and a corrupt accountant doing the bidding of ruthless clients (Vincent Kartheiser).

Producer Jordan Yale Levine says: “Cryptocurrency has captured the attention and imagination of consumers and entrepreneurs all over the world but has never been explored in film in such a nuanced and exciting way.”

The movie is slated for release in 2019.
