Blockparty, a blockchain-based ticketing platform, will be the exclusive seller of BestLife Music Festival tickets when sales go live on 10th July. Tickets can be bought on the Blockparty app, which includes a range of reward programmes to incentivise event goers and influencers for bringing friends and promoting events.
The company was launched to solve what it describes as “major pain points” in ticketing – namely, ensuring attendee identity, solving ticket fraud and enabling revenue share in secondary ticket markets.
Blockparty has developed “two factor ticketing” that links a user’s ticket to their digital identity. Its protocol tracks a ticket from issue through to the secondary market to the gate. Festival goers can enter the event by unlocking their ticket on the app using their phone’s in-built facial recognition or fingerprint-scanning technology.
The Blockparty protocol does not use ERC-20 tokens to create tickets. Instead, it integrates an ERC-20 token (BOXX) and non-fungible ERC-721 smart contracts (the tickets). The tickets can store data that is unique to them, such as the seat number, VIP or general admission, and drinking age.
The Blockparty mobile app, enterprise web dashboard and BOXX token formally launched at Elements Lakewood Music Festival in May, and will be rolled out to other festivals over the summer.
