NHL team New York Islanders partner with NFT marketplace Orange Comet

The partnership features an array of custom-made, limited edition NFT drops for fans of the New York Islanders

NFT marketplace Orange Comet has unveiled an official multi-year partnership with National Hockey League team New York Islanders and the UBS Arena to produce and sell NFTs on its brand new Avalanche-powered platform.

The landmark limited-edition NFT launch will debut during the first Islanders game ever to be played at the UBS Arena on November 20 2021. The collection features four designs dedicated to the NHL team, including several special NFTs that contain “unique fan experiences and real-world items”.

Ahead of the opening game, special edition UBS Arena NFTs will also be gifted to those attending the UBS Arena Foundation Benefit Event today. Additional collectables from the release will be focused on future events, merchandising, tickets and fan initiatives — with more details soon to be announced.

In addition, the first 1,000 fans that pre-register for the NFTs will receive a limited-edition custom goalie mask NFT created exclusively by Orange Comet.

With a focus on designing NFTs for “iconic brands in the world of entertainment, sports, music, art, and pop-culture”, Orange Comet is using the Avalanche Blockchain for their NFTs due to its speed, low cost and eco-friendly approach.

Founder and president of Orange Comet, Dave Broome, worked for the Islanders as a college student and spoke positively about the partnership with Orange Comet.

“As it comes full circle for me, we at Orange Comet could not be more thrilled to bring our creative, dynamic visual NFT designs to the forefront of a world-class organisation like the New York Islanders,” he said.

“Bridging the gap between digital art, storytelling, and visual imagery, we are delighted to be part of this new innovative relationship between the Islanders, their fans, and technology.”
