NOW Art LA wins blockchain contest

The all-woman-run venture NOW Art LA is among three startups that won the Rocket Three for Free contest, organised by Canadian company Etherparty Smart Contracts.

“The contest received a wide range of ideas, new and exciting concepts. Our contest winners spoke especially to innovation and to making a difference and that’s the kind of initiatives we want to support, now and into the future,” says Etherparty CEO Kevin Hobbs.

NOW Art LA, Covalent and Vanyx have been awarded with token and crowdfund smart contracts, which are part of Rocket, Etherparty’s packaged software solution for cryptocurrency-based crowdfunding as well as consulting support and token sale guidance.

NOW Art LA is a Los Angeles-based organisation of curators, producers and artists. It is using blockchain technology to make art more accessible and transparent for the public and private sectors, using its coin as a tool to create and place art in public spaces.

The director of the organisation, Carmen Zella, says: “We are very excited to bridge the gap between smart contract technology and the art industry, thanking Etherparty and its software Rocket. Our organisation is excited to implement this new technology and enter a new frontier as it will enhance cultural production and access to art.”
