Crypto.com is partnering with NBA star LeBron James and his Family Foundation to support educational and workforce development initiatives in the Web3 space.
Through the partnership, students and families connected to the I PROMISE program – an initiative created to help raise graduation rates in Akron Public Schools – will develop strong educational foundations in Web3 and blockchain technologies through access to tools and educational resources.
By providing Web3 educational resources and workforce development, James hopes to continue the development of his hometown community by building upon a “strong basis of educational empowerment” and giving back to students and families connected to the I PROMISE program.
“Blockchain technology is revolutionising our economy, sports and entertainment, the art world, and how we engage with one another. I want to ensure that communities like the one I come from are not left behind,” said James.
“Crypto.com and I are aligned on the need to educate and support my community with the information and tools they need for inclusion. I’m looking forward to working with them to bring these opportunities to my community.”
The NBA star is also using the partnership to nurture and build-out plans for House Three Thirty – a multi-use space for I PROMISE families and Akron communities to gather and engage in learning and educational development within Web3.
Crypto.com, a crypto exchange, has also committed to building upon “the future of the internet” and the Web3 space by joining forces with “like-minded businesses, non-profit organisations, individuals and institutions” within the educational and crypto spaces.
“We couldn’t be more proud to join LJFF in providing opportunities to increase educational and workforce development while delivering the tools and access that will empower the next generation to build a better and more inclusive future,” said Kris Marszalek, co-founder and CEO of Crypto.com.
Lebron James’ and his NBA team, the LA Lakers, have pre-existing close ties to Crypto.com following the rebranding of the iconic LA Staples Center – the home of the Lakers – to the ‘Crypto.com Arena’. The exchange has also partnered with other NBA franchises such as the Philadelphia 76ers.
