Real Madrid the latest club to join Fantastec SWAP – a blockchain-based collectibles app

Spanish footballing giant Real Madrid is the latest club to join Fantastec SWAP’s football collectibles app – which is supported by blockchain technology.

Earlier this year, Coin Rivet covered Fantastec SWAP’s first partnership – Premier League club Arsenal – which saw unique collectibles added to Fantastec’s app featuring the men’s and women’s teams.

The move meant users of the app could trade superstars such as Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, Mesut Özil, and Alexandre Lacazette.

Since then, it was announced that Borussia Dortmund from the German Bundesliga would be joining Fantastec SWAP as well.

Now Fantastec has announced in a Medium blog post that one of the world’s largest and most successful football clubs – Real Madrid from La Liga – will be joining its ranks.

The app serves to transform the nostalgic euphoria of collecting player cards and stickers by replicating the experience in a digitised world powered by blockchain technology.

It enables users to collect and trade the collectibles with other users across the world through its social media-like features.

Blockchain technology is fundamentally an immutable ledger which should enable users to retain their collectibles on it forever with little risk of fraud or theft.

Real Madrid boast a remarkable 13 Champions League titles alongside an impressive 33 La Liga titles, placing them as one of the most prestigious clubs in the world.

The Medium post reads: “We knew when launching SWAP we needed the biggest and best teams on the app. With Real Madrid, alongside Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, we feel we’ve done just that.”

SWAP users will now be able to trade with ‘Galaticos’ champions including Luka Modric – the latest recipient of the highly coveted Ballon D’or award – as well as Sergio Ramos and Toni Kroos.
