Ripple partner with top Chinese university to collaborate on blockchain research program

Ripple has partnered with a top Chinese university to collaborate on a blockchain research program.

The Institute for Fintech Research at Tsinghua University (THUIFR) made an announcement confirming the partnership last week. The program will focus on regulatory policies and blockchain development.

Despite being viewed in a negative light by many in the cryptocurrency space, who often lament Ripple for being overly centralised, the company seems to be going all out to educate the masses about blockchain, which can only be seen as a positive.

“The program’s goal – to provide students with opportunities in blockchain research – closely aligns with that of Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative; we’re thrilled to support THUIFR in this endeavor and look forward to its launch,” commented Eric van Miltenburg, Ripple’s SVP of global operations.

Ripple’s willingness to invest in blockchain technology education was reported by Coin Rivet last year, after it was confirmed that the company was willing to spend $50 million on their new University Blockchain Research Initiative.

This latest step demonstrates that Ripple is ramping up its game in terms of blockchain research and education. Ripple’s native cryptocurrency, XRP, is the second largest cryptocurrency in terms of market cap, commanding a capitalisation total of more than $13 billion.
