Coinbase has provided a first look at its native NFT marketplace with a ‘sneak peek’ showing the onboarding flow and account creation process for users.
VP of product at Coinbase, Sanchan Saxena, posted the video walkthrough to guide users through the various sign-in processes that Coinbase will employ for its marketplace.
What really grabbed the community’s attention was the sign-in feature using a self-custodial or Web3 wallet, which means that users don’t need to have a Coinbase account to use the NFT marketplace.
To sign in, users can either use a self-custodial Web3 wallet such as Metamask or Coinbase Wallet, or sign in with their Coinbase account. According to the NFT community, this could be a “game-changer” for the exchange.
Once connected, users can then create a unique username and choose a photo for their profile. Sanchan also confirmed that NFTs in your wallet can be used as your profile picture, as is the norm across social media channels like Twitter and Discord.
Users can then select the NFTs they want to be displayed on their Coinbase NFT profile. According to Sanchan, users will get to select what NFTs they want to showcase, who they follow and who follows you.
He also confirmed that users can “hide any NFT or list any NFT for sale” and that “everything is in YOUR control”.
Sanchan then revealed that more videos will be released in the coming weeks displaying more features of the marketplace.
An array of projects have already been announced as ‘creator partners’ for the marketplace, including ‘Ghxsts‘, ‘Forgotten Runes‘ and ‘Ponderware‘ – the creator of Mooncats.
