Let’s be realistic about crypto – and ourselves – in 2020

Today I want to talk to you about something that lurks through the industry, is personal to me and, I know, a sensitive subject for many active leaders in the industry.

I am talking about wealth – to be specific, crypto wealth.

There is this strange assumption that if you are in the crypto space, you must be crypto wealthy. And the longer you have been part of it, the more crypto you must be holding.

This creates false beliefs and biases toward many experts.

However, it is not the case for many industry leaders. Crypto winters are tough to live through and for many they cause complete wipeout.

Ashamed

Now, this is not a popular topic to discuss and often people are ashamed about being experts and not having much crypto in their wallets.  As if they failed and did something wrong.

However, I think you should be aware of it.

Why?

Because I want you to understand that many industry leaders stick with contributing their time and attention to the progress and adoption of blockchain because they believe in a better future for our world.  They are connected by the ethos of crypto. They are driven to make visions of a better future for everybody in the world a reality.

Many people assume that those supporting crypto are pushing forward their agenda so they can get rich. And, as a result, they disregard an important message. But the message of decentralised systems, fair and transparent voting, immutable data, and the ability to bank the poor and underprivileged are very important for our global society.

There are many summaries in the media about where we have been and many predictions about where we are going.

My focus today is a call to action.

As we enter 2020 – another halving year (which I am sure you will read a lot about it in upcoming months) – I ask you to remember and follow the advice of those who stayed active through crypto winters. These are the individuals who are driven by the pursuit of a better future for you, for those close to you and for our planet.

And if you are one of the experts who gained a lot during the growth cycles and had to spend nearly all your gains and maybe more during crypto winters. I salute to you for your hard work and dedication and I want to encourage you to stay on the path you have chosen. Know you are not alone.

Eventually, you, along with many others like yourself, will finally see the adoption of this technology. All the knowledge you’ve gained and shared with others will prevail, your experience will bring abundance into your life and the next crypto winter will not be cold at all.

What does not kill you, makes you stronger.
