Twitter has revealed it will be building a team focused on developing and implementing crypto and blockchain technologies to the social media platform.
The newly appointed lead – Tess Rinearson – outlined Twitter’s approach to the project and its positive views on the crypto space.
Rinearson first expanded on how her team will “be working to figure out what crypto can do for Twitter, as well as what Twitter can do for crypto”.
She also alluded to how Twitter “truly gets” the ever-expanding crypto space and noted the introduction of Bitcoin (BTC) tipping & the upcoming NFT verification feature.
I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Twitter, to lead a new team focused on crypto, blockchains, and other decentralized technologies—including and going beyond cryptocurrencies.✨ pic.twitter.com/HaP0k5hUOq

Rinearson then touched on how the team will be looking into supporting a “growing interest among creators to use decentralised apps” to manage and use virtual goods and currencies on the platform, which may suggest future integrations with popular DApps that support virtual assets.
The team will also focus on how crypto communities can help “push the boundaries of what’s possible with identity, community, ownership” on the platform.
‘Crypto Twitter’ remains one of the most popular draws of the crypto space, with participation in the community often the first exposure many have to the crypto space.
Twitter will also be working closely with BlueSky – its decentralised social media project – to help “shape the future” of both its crypto venture and decentralised efforts.
