Yesterday, Coinbase announced that Ripple’s XRP would be added to its Coinbase Pro platform. Naturally, this has caused a bit of a stir in the crypto community.
From ludicrous trolling to exclamations of joy, the community has certainly been vocal about their views on the move.
CEO of Binance Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao has claimed his platform played some small part in Coinbase’s move:
Like to think we contributed to the adoption, maybe just a tiny bit, lol. Congratulations #XRP!
The more adoption, the better, and the faster thing move around the world. It's spreading. https://t.co/5IIvm5QFuq

Meanwhile, senior market analyst at eToro Mati Greenspan congratulated the XRP community for finally getting their wish:
The moment the #XRPcommunity has been waiting for. $XRP added to Coinbase Pro. 🎉 https://t.co/FsXSXSU4M3

Twitter user @kingthies, with a following just shy of 23,000, couldn’t resist posting a trolling message to his followers:
It’s crazy to think $XRP will be the first coin to beat the $BTC ATH of $20k. Just ordered a few more XRP mining rigs to make sure I’ve got the maximum return on this opportunity to see XRP above $20k from this coinbase listing. Hail XRP!

Brian Hoffman, project lead at OpenBazaar and CEO of OB1, commented on the relentless and alleged XRPArmy spam bots:
Coinbase should have withheld $XRP support on principle. Their spam bots are the biggest scourge in social media.

This sentiment is largely shared by Twitter user @Brad2point0, though he believes the XRPArmy will finally give it a rest now XRP has been added to Coinbase:
Imagine all of the free time $XRP holders will have now that their coin is finally added to @coinbase.

@Fullbeerbottle couldn’t quite resist the temptation of throwing out a Lord of the Rings meme to his 30,000 followers:

Not all of the reaction is doom and gloom though, with one rather dedicated XRP fan adding their two cents to the mix:
Don’t be fooled. Today is a big day. It’s been such a journey people forget. One year ago it was said XRP would never hit Coinbase because it didn’t meet some magical standard for listing. That XRP was somehow a lessor crypto. All walls will come down eventually.

Regardless of how you feel about the XRP listing, it seems everybody is talking about the news.
