TEND to tokenise thoroughbred racehorses in world-first

Zug, Switzerland, 18th September 2018: TEND, a lifestyle investment platform based on an Ethereum-powered blockchain that enables co-ownership of precious assets, has today announced a world-first exclusive partnership with Highclere Thoroughbred Racing (HTR) to offer a thoroughbred racehorse syndicate as the first tokenised asset of its kind on the platform.

Marco Abele, CEO and Founder of TEND and the Hon. Harry Herbert, Founder and Chairman of HTR have collaborated to enable TEND members to immerse themselves in the excitement of the races by co-owning a thoroughbred racehorse.

The racehorse syndicate will be split into token-based shares to be traded on TEND’s platform. The platform hosts share-owners and a variety of other service partners, and its use of blockchain provides a transparent account of an asset’s history.

As one of the most successful racehorse syndication companies in the world, HTR will facilitate the crossover from asset to experience. The horseracing experts will oversee everything from caring for and training the horses to arranging the experiential days for token-holders; the management of which is executed using smart contracts on the blockchain.

The sport of kings

Marco Abele comments: “Our co-owners will be given the opportunity to watch their racehorse develop through every stage of its life, from a young and excited yearling, full of potential and hope, to a fully developed racehorse. The stunning grounds of Highclere Stud further add to the experience as well as enjoying wonderful days out at events such as The Derby, Royal Ascot and Glorious Goodwood.”

The Hon. Harry Herbert says of the partnership: “HTR was founded with the aim to bring the sport of kings to a wider range of people and turn the dream of owning a champion horse into a reality. This partnership is the embodiment of that ideal, and it seemed only natural that we joined forces with TEND to create a truly unique and pioneering opportunity.”
