A recent press release from the Kin Foundation has revealed that the Kin software development kit (SDK) is now live on the Unity Asset Store.
The Kin SDK is a toolkit that can be used to develop games, and it can now be used in conjunction with the popular development engine Unity.
Unity is a massively popular game engine which has been used for titles such as Pokémon Go.
The Kin SDK has been developed by Prime31, the leading Unity Asset Store publisher. For developers, the Kin SDK will allow them to open new Kin accounts, create Kin wallets, and provide ways to earn and spend Kin in-game. For players, the SDK enables them to earn and spend Kin in-game and allows user-to-user interactions such as sending Kin to other players.
The SDK enables game developers to produce games with cryptocurrency, as well as allowing them to integrate Kin to facilitate peer-to-peer transactions.
The SDK also doesn’t require users to have a deep understanding of blockchain technology, meaning users will be able to “reap the benefits that crypto offers” without needing the technical knowledge of the cryptosphere.
Reportedly, by granting developers the ability to easily integrate Kin into their mobile games, they can “create user experiences that reward social interaction and create ‘stickier’ social networks.”
The press release notes: “This is a major step forward, not just for Unity, but for our overall strategy of driving mainstream adoption of Kin in gaming.”
The SDK is currently available on Android, and the Kin Foundation “will work towards releasing the SDK for iOS developers in the coming weeks.”
