Another US museum starts accepting crypto as payment

The Great Lakes Science Center has announced that it will now accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment. It will use BitPay to process transactions.

“Accepting Bitcoin is just a small part of the momentum to grow a blockchain ecosystem in Cleveland,” says Kirsten Ellenbogen, CEO of the Great Lakes Science Center.

Visitors will be able to purchase admission tickets using cryptocurrencies and visit the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Glenn Visitor Center. They will also have access to crypto payments in the museum’s newly launched mobile app that utilises augmented and virtual reality.

Blockland Solutions Conference

The announcement comes just ahead of the Blockland Solutions Conference. The inaugural four-day event takes place in December and admission to it can also be paid in Bitcoin.

“There is a lot of excitement around the conference,” states Ellenbogen. “Accepting Bitcoin is just a small part of the momentum to grow a blockchain ecosystem in Cleveland.”

The Great Lakes Science Center is the third museum in the United States to accept Bitcoin as payment. It lines up alongside the Museum of the Coastal Bend in Texas and St. Petersburg Museum of History in Florida.
