Watford FC announce multi-year partnership with crypto casino and sports betting platform

The partnership sees Stake.com become Watford's principal shirt sponsor following promotion to the Premier League

Newly-promoted Watford today announced a new multi-year partnership with Stake.com – a leading global crypto casino and sports betting platform.

From the start of the 2021/22 Premier League season, the club-record sponsorship deal will see Stake become the club’s principal shirt sponsor, with the stake.com logo displayed on the front of the shirt.

The partnership with Watford FC aims to leverage the global appeal of the Premier League to drive awareness of the brand and crypto globally. To commemorate the beginning of the partnership, Stake will be running crypto-themed initiatives, including a 10 million Dogecoin (DOGE) giveaway on its international platform.

Additionally, UK audiences can expect an array of promotions and giveaways to celebrate the launch of its UK platform – Stake.co.uk – as Stake.com is currently only available in the US.

The multi-year agreement, which was paid for in cryptocurrency, sees Watford FC continue their long-standing relationship with crypto-based betting firms following their 2019 partnership with Sportsbet.io.

The partnership saw Watford’s kit during the 2019/2020 season emblazoned with the infamous Bitcoin” logo alongside the club accepting Bitcoin as a payment for its merchandise.

“We are thrilled to welcome Stake as our principal shirt sponsor ahead of the 2021/22 season,” said Scott Duxbury, Watford FC Chairman & CEO.

“This will be an extremely exciting campaign for the club as we return to the Premier League and we couldn’t be happier to join with a partner who match our ambitious outlook and commitment to innovation in order to achieve success.”

Founded in 2017, Stake.com is a leading crypto casino platform. The partnership with Watford FC marks an expansion of the company’s sports sponsorship portfolio, following the brand’s unveiling as the UFC’s Official Betting Partner in Latin America and Asia in March.

“The past few years have seen consistent growth for Stake and this partnership with Watford marks the next chapter for our company,” said Stake CEO Mladen Vuckovic.

“We could not be more thrilled to partner with a club that has such immense history yet still a true innovative spirit.

“We’re committed to becoming a key part of the Watford family and have a number of exciting initiatives planned for fans over the coming months.”

Another Premier League club – Arsenal – also recently announced a crypto-based partnership. The London-based club will be partnering with Chiliz – creators of Fan Tokens and the fan engagement platform Socios.

The partnership will see Arsenal launch the $AFC Fan Token on Socios in the coming weeks. The token will allow Arsenal supporters the opportunity to invest in their favourite team and purchase VIP experiences and features using the tokens.

In March, current Premier League champions Manchester City were the first Premier League club to announce they would launch a Fan Token, but are yet to release it.
