CryptoKitties can now be used in different dApps

Digital cats from popular blockchain application CryptoKitties can now be used in different dApps using Kitty Tricks, which grant the NFTs the ability to unlock hidden features

Digital cats from popular blockchain application CryptoKitties can now be used in different dApps using Kitty Tricks, which grant the NFTs the ability to unlock hidden features.

The announcement was made on the CryptoKitties blog page. The development team claim one of the most exciting aspects of blockchain technology is interoperability and how digital assets do not need to be tied to a single game.

“Since CryptoKitties are the adorable mascots of blockchain, they naturally had to try their paw at interopability. That’s why some special Kitties can unlock special features in other dApps,” the blog post states.

Kitty Tricks can be thought of as superpowers for CryptoKitties. The superpowers enable the cats to unlock hidden features in other dApps that would otherwise be inaccessible.

Kitty Tricks are exclusive to specific NFTs, and with each new ability comes more utility, value, and fun.

Players can check whether their NFTs possess the capability of gaining a Kitty Trick by looking for the Kitty Trick icon on the NFT’s Kitty Card and Kitty Page. Hovering above the icon badge in the bottom-right corner of the Kitty Card will provide insight into that NFT’s abilities.

Each Kitty Trick is a one-time consumable, and when a player takes a cat into a different dApp and activates it, the Kitty Trick badge will update on the Kitty Card in CryptoKitties.

Certain Kitty Tricks will also be time-sensitive, and if the player does not use it in the allotted time, they will not be able to use it at all.

The announcement continues to provide an example of this interoperability with Cheeze Wizards, a battle royale game developed by the CryptoKitties team.

If a player brings a generation four or lower ‘Curdlin’ NFT into Cheeze Wizards, its abilities can be used to permanently transform a Cheeze Wizard into a Kitty Wizard, complete with special art and access to an exclusive side quest to earn Ether.

Similarly, if a player brings a generation five or higher Curdlin into Cheeze Wizards, they can give one of their Cheeze Wizards a fashionable Kitty Hat that unlocks a different exclusive side quest.
