Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey reveals Lightning Network integration is coming to Cash App

Lightning Network integration is coming to Cash App at some point in the future, according to CEO of Square and Twitter Jack Dorsey

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has revealed that integration of the Lightning Network is coming to Cash App, stating that it’s a matter of “when” and not “if.”

The 42-year-old, who has been a keen advocate of Bitcoin in the past few weeks, spoke on the Stephan Livera podcast on Monday evening, delving further into his interest in digital assets.

Dorsey was asked why he chose to single out Bitcoin instead of alternative cryptocurrencies, to which he replied: “It’s due to the principles that created it [Bitcoin], the community around it, the ideals that it fosters, the brand, and there is an element of practically as well.”

The conversation moved on to the Lightning Network, which Dorsey has already shown a key interest in by participating in the ongoing “Lightning torch” payment chain of transactions.

The Square CEO claims that he has received rallying calls from customers of the Cash App for Lightning integration, to which he responded by saying it’s a matter of “when” and not “if.”

“We would love to make [Bitcoin] as fast and efficient and transactional as possible, and that includes looking at our seller base and register. It’s not an if, it’s more of a when, and how do we make sure that we’re getting the speed that we need and the efficiency. A lot of what we work with on the seller side is making transactions as fast as possible.”

He added:“We don’t think it stops at buying and selling [Bitcoin]. We do want to help make happen the currency aspect.”
