Upcoming post-apocalyptic blockchain game Age of Rust is set to be published on gaming platform The Abyss later this year.
Age of Rust has been developed by SpacePirate Games – a Washington-based game developer – and is just one of the many blockchain-based games set to be part of the Enjin gaming Multiverse.
The Abyss is a gaming platform that will boast versatile social features and is designed to be a one-stop shop for users’ gaming desires.
It is being built with ‘massively multiplayer online’ (MMO) games and ‘massively multiplayer online role-playing games’ (MMORPGs) in mind, and will be similar to popular game distribution platform Steam.
The Abyss team announced the news in a Medium blog post, which reads: “The Abyss is both glad and thrilled to announce it will be publishing Enjin-powered (using Enjin’s smart contract) Age of Rust, an exciting blockchain action game.”
When the player begins their journey in Age of Rust, they find themselves waking up in the year 4424 – where rogue machines have taken over and all advancements in technology, science, and culture have ceased.
They will then be tasked with starting their new life on the other side of the galaxy, exploring abandoned space stations, mysterious caverns, and ruins on far-away worlds.
Throughout the game, there will be puzzles and secrets to be deciphered, granting the player access to new areas. As would be expected from a blockchain game, there will be blockchain-based items which are used to buy, sell, and trade with other players.
The full game is scheduled to be released at some point in 2019.
