The pre-alpha for Dissolution – a tactical first-person shooter (FPS) and massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) supported by blockchain technology – is currently available to play on Steam.
The news was announced on the Dissolution Twitter page. Steam is a video game digital distribution platform and one of the most popular platforms of its type in the world.
The early access pre-alpha stage is being held to allow players to test the game and provide feedback to the developers to help them iron out any issues and bugs ahead of its subsequent release.
Dissolution is set in a universe ravaged by an ongoing war of extinction between humans and artificial intelligence (AI). The game is an open-world MMORPG where players vie with one another to claim blockchain-based resources and territory.
The description on Steam states: “The economy side of the game is backed with blockchain. This enforces truly finite and limited resources, as well as allowing players to trade privately outside of our marketplace, even though our marketplace is completely free of any fees or charges.
“All items in the game world are finite and limited in quantity with the exception of some consumables which will not be tokenised, such as ammo, water, and food.”
Dissolution is also part of the Enjin Spark program, meaning the game will have early access to the Enjin mainnet and will feature a collection of powerful Multiverse items. Its developers also receive consultancy from the Enjin team as part of the program.
The pre-alpha is currently free to play on Steam, and the platform has confirmed the full release will also be free to play.
