Enjin and Unity Technologies to release software development kit for Ethereum testnet

Enjin and Unity Technologies have partnered up to release the Enjin blockchain software development kit (SDK) for the Ethereum testnet

Enjin has announced it will be releasing its blockchain software development kit (SDK) on the Ethereum testnet following a partnership with Unity Technologies.

In a press release, Enjin described its excitement at partnering with “the world’s most popular game engine” to release its blockchain SDK.

Unity will be adding the Enjin blockchain SDK to the front page of the Unity Asset Store on March 14th, 2019.

The news comes just weeks ahead of the Game Developers Conference, which takes place on March 18th, 2019 in San Francisco.

Enjin and Unity will be “launching an aggressive co-marketing campaign to gain maximum traction among Unity’s community of millions of leading-edge developers.”

The team behind the blockchain SDK is well versed in mainstream game development, with some members having previously worked for gaming behemoths such as Bioware, Activision, and EA.

ERC-1155 token

The blockchain SDK will enable game and app developers to create and integrate ERC-1155 blockchain assets into their games with ease.

Ethereum-based ERC-1155 tokens build upon the features of ERC-20 and ERC-721 token standards. This standardisation allows developers to integrate ERC-1155 tokens with any asset stored on the public Ethereum blockchain. Previously, ERC-20 tokens have been hugely popular in blockchain game development.

The ERC-1155 token is otherwise known as the “multi-standard token”, which grants developers the ability to create unlimited fungible and non-fungible assets with a single smart contract.

This in turn will allow for faster transaction times, lower gas fees, and the ability to mass produce tokens with little effort.

Ethereum testnet

With the SDK, Unity developers will be able to create blockchain assets on the Ethereum testnet and integrate them into games.

Enjin developers are now also adding notarised advancements to their smart contracts and every product in the Enjin ecosystem.

Once the smart contracts have been upgraded, Enjin will be ready to release its Ethereum mainnet version of its blockchain development platform.
