Shiba Inu signs NDA with ‘top studio’ to develop metaverse game

Last week, SHIB developer Shytoshi Kusama teased on Twitter that something big was coming, and we can reveal that he was talking about plans for a metaverse Shiba Inu game with a triple-A game studio and leading developer William David Volk.

Announcing that ‘SHIB is the future of gaming’, Shytoshi – a leading developer in Shiba Inu’s growing decentralised community – explained that Shiba Inu Games would be undertaking its first project in the form of a decentralised metaverse in response to Facebook’s Meta.

What do we know about the studio and developer?

And while he couldn’t disclose the specific name of the AAA studio, he did reveal details about the leadership and the projects that it had worked on in the past – giving rise to speculation that the studio might be Avalanche Games, Jam City or Animoca.

“Landing a great AAA game studio that has worked with the likes of Disney and Warner Bros isn’t enough,” he added.

“Per the request of the Guardians of Shib, I put out a request for a recruiter to find me a person who could LEAD the game design, implementation, and completion of the Shiboshi Game that’s being developed by the AAA game studio.

Volk is an extremely experienced developer, that formerly headed up the Technology division at Activision (the top studio behind the likes of Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, and Crash Bandicoot) and carries a big name in the industry that will add a lot of credibility to the ambitious project.

Speaking on the announcement before the NDA, Volk boasted about the potential of the project.

Shiba Inu ecosystem will flourish in metaverse

Plans are underway to incorporate cryptocurrencies into the Shibaverse, with Shytoshi dropping crumbs suggesting in-app purchased NFTs and new use cases for SHIB ecosystem tokens.

“The completed game, will be licensed solely to the decentralised team at Shiba Inu for use on Shibarium. They’ll also be able to add various decentralised elements to enhance this mobile version,” he explained.

“This will provide unique opportunities within the Shiba Inu Ecosystem ($SHIB, $LEASH & $BONE), while Shiba Inu Games remains completely separate from this activity.

“Moreover, the revenue gained from Shiba Inu Games in-app purchases also provides opportunities for Shib & Leash burns! Truly a win-win, and this is just a teaser of what we have planned.”

What will the Shibaverse look like?

And finally, as for the contents of the metaverse…

Community speculation is already running rife surrounding the details.
