Twitter Bitcoin tipping begins testing on Android

Jane Manchun Wong, a Hong Kong-based technology researcher and software engineer has revealed plans that Twitter is testing out its tipping feature on Android devices.

Wong tweeted a screenshot of the plans.

The ‘Tips’ feature was tested in May when users were able to send Bitcoin to their favourite content creators initially through centralised payment providers, such as Paypal, Venmo, and Cash App.

In August, Twitter added Strike, a Bitcoin payment service powered by the Lightning Network, in order to facilitate quicker transactions.

While the debut of the tips feature came to iOS users in September, Wong has appeared to break news that it won’t be long before the tipping service finds its way on Android devices.

It isn’t the first time Wong has managed major scoops in the technology sector as she was the first to share plans on Instagram’s experiments with augmented reality (AR) profile pictures.

Wong was also first in line to share the first public picture of Facebook Dating’s homepage.

Twitter NFT verification

Twitter is also working on the authentication of NFTs and according to Wong, the social media service is working on allowing users to show off their NFT collection.

The Twitter mobile app will also allow users to view NFTs and read a dedicated bio about them.
