The latest Ethereum price is US$218.21. Today (17/9/18 10:42) the price has fallen by 0.95%, during this week by 1.75%, and during this month it fell by 22.76%. Ethereum (ETH) has seen its price drop this year but it’s not alone – during August the Top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalisation lost $27bn in value.
Ethereum had a fantastic start to the year. It opened at $738 on 1st January and had a great month closing at $1,121. This followed a massive end to 2017 when its value shot up during November and December 42% and 70% respectively. The January increase was around 52% so that was three consecutive months of huge gains with double digit growth.
Since then it has been pretty much downhill. Every month (apart from April) has been negative. And the falls have largely been double digit too.
For the year then Ethereum is down approximately 70%. If you’d chosen February 2018 as a month to start investing in Ethereum you would have lost 80%.
