Merch store owned by Lil’ Pump, which accepts Bitcoin, is powered by OpenNode

New information shared with Coin Rivet has shed more light on the developing Lil’ Pump story on how the young rapper’s store now facilitates Bitcoin Lightning payments.

Recently we covered the Lil’ Pump story after a tweet emerged stating that the rapper’s merchandise store, Unhappy, now accepts Bitcoin Lightning payments.

Lil’ Pump, who has a following of more than one million on Twitter, rose to fame back in 2017 with the release of his song titled ‘Gucci Gang’.

The song peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 and is even a certified triple platinum record by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The young rapper, real name Gazzy García, is only 18 and has already achieved much success, with Forbes listing him in its prestigious ‘30 under 30′ list.

OpenNode’s Head of Marketing, Ryan Flowers, has since reached out to Coin Rivet and revealed to us that Lil’ Pump’s merchandise store – which accepts Bitcoin Lightning payments – is powered by OpenNode.

OpenNode offers its customers and users a robust platform that boasts an easy-to-use plugin for e-commerce websites. It also offers payment infrastructure APIs (application programming interface) for developers. Its payment processor limits allow for new payment models and instantaneous settlements.

Upon choosing the checkout option on Unhappy, customers will able to select pay with Bitcoin. Once done they will be redirected to a checkout facilitated by OpenNode.

They will then have two options, pay on-chain or pay through the Lightning Network. By choosing the former, customers will be able to pay with a standard Bitcoin wallet while the latter will be conducted through the Lightning Network – a layer two scaling solution designed to enhance Bitcoin’s transaction throughput.

Having a rapper in the mainstream support Bitcoin payments should prove to be positive for the crypto space overall, as it helps spread the gospel to wider audiences that otherwise may have never paid attention to crypto.
