The Abyss has announced a brand new strategy game called ‘Generals & Rulers’, which will be released on its platform later this year.
The announcement was made on The Abyss’ Medium blog page. The Abyss is a digital distribution platform for massively multiplayer online (MMO) games and massively multiplayer role-playing games (MMORPGs).
Generals & Rulers is a casual strategy game for PC and is set to be released on The Abyss in Q3 2019.
It has been developed and published by the Hamsters Gaming studio, a company which has had some success in developing browser games such as Music Awards Manager, War Spirit, and Game of Kings.
Players will be tasked with taking control of a country and expanding their empire. The game reportedly has a “huge number” of development options and 10 different game versions.
The basic version will include three maps encompassing two different eras: ‘World 1207’ and ‘World 1750’.
In World 1207, the Mongol invasion has started in Asia, while World 1750 is devoted to the time period in which the Holy Roman Empire was dominating Europe.
Players can choose more than 80 countries to begin their own historic adventure. Many more maps will reportedly be added to the game, ranging from ancient to modern times.
There will initially be four game modes available with the single-player mode being “extremely meditative”, allowing players to disconnect from the in-game events for an hour or two. Co-op and multiplayer modes however will result in an “insane race” where real people are contributing to the ongoing events.
