Paris Blockchain Week to go ahead in 2020 despite pandemic

Paris Blockchain Week Summit will go ahead in December in spite of fears that travel may be restricted due to COVID-19

This year’s Paris Blockchain Week will go ahead in December following the postponement of the summer’s event due to the coronavirus pandemic.

According to a press release shared with Coin Rivet, organisers have no intention in canceling the upcoming event despite mounting fears of a second wave in COVID-19 cases.

Paris Blockchain Week will be hosted at Station F, a converted rail station that hosts an array of conferences and events throughout the year.

Coin Rivet attended the event in 2019, conducting interviews with the like of Binance CFO Wei Zhou, notable cryptocurrency academic Emin Gün Sirer and the managing director of the Stuttgart Stock Exchange’s Digital Ventures platform, Dr Ulli Spankowski.

More of the same is expected this year with organisers promising “insightful talks from the best entrepreneurs, developers and visionaries across four industries”.

Under unfamiliar circumstances a number of conferences and events have gone online this year, with the recent ANON 2020 summit being hailed as a success as more than 8,500 attendees registered for a unique virtual event.

The virtual format makes complete sense during a time when the majority of the world are stuck inside, but it remains to be seen whether a physical conference with up to 3,500 people will be as successful this December, especially in light of local lockdowns beginning to be imposed in some areas of Europe.

Pairs Blockchain Week isn’t totally ignoring the interest in virtual conferences as it co-hosts Unitize, an online blockchain event, between July 6 and 10.
