LINE Corporation, creator of the LINE messaging app, has added TRON (TRX) to its recently-launched cryptocurrency exchange BITBOX.
TRON, a global decentralised blockchain platform, is the first coin project to pass the review process of the BITBOX open-listing committee. To celebrate the listing, nine million TRON coins will be airdropped to BITBOX users in a promotional event running until 22nd August.
Since its Testnet launch in March 2018, TRON has celebrated several milestones, including its Mainnet launch in May, network independence in June, and testnet virtual machine launch on Testnet in July. It also acquired BitTorrent, a communication protocol for peer-to-peer file sharing.
“Integrating TRX with BITBOX will enable us to connect with the world’s fastest-growing blockchain project,” says Youngsu Ko, CEO of LINE Tech Plus, LINE’s Singapore-based subsidiary that operates BITBOX.
Justin Sun, Founder and CEO of TRON, says the platform will use its expertise to help LINE provide fast and secure cutting-edge crypto exchange services. “By joining this vibrant project, we aim to reach a broader audience, extend our services to mobile, and connect the dots with our other products, which have more than 100 million users,” he adds.
The announcement comes after LINE’s subsidiary, unblock corporation, launched unblock ventures, a corporate token venture fund which has a capital commitment of $10 million (£7.9 million). LINE is one of the first publicly-traded corporations to formalise token investments through a corporate fund.
