Earlier this year, John McAfee announced that he would again run for US President in 2020 (he was part of the 2016 election which brought Donald Trump to power).
“If asked again by the Libertarian party, I will run with them. If not, I will create my own party. I believe this will best serve the crypto community by providing the ultimate campaign platform for us,” he tweeted.
And yesterday he returned to the subject, this time around admitting that he has no chance of winning. Rather, the end game is to bring about a blockchain revolution. “Let’s be real. No sane person could believe I could ever become President. That’s not my goal. I want access to the National Stage for 18 months to promote what I believe is the only thing that can save us: The Blockchain, CryptoCurrency and the economic freedom they will bring,” he said.

He added: “I am receiving hundreds of offers to help on my Presidential campaign. It is impossible for me to respond to all. If you genuinely want to help out, please contact my campaign manager: @Loggiaonfire”
And he signed off with this zinger. “Freedom is knowing ourselves. We know life through thoughts, feelings (including our senses) and actions. There is naught else. The relationship of these to people, things and ideas defines us. Simplicity is key. What simpler than economic freedom? The Blockchain will free us.”
McAfee in Malta
In August, Coin Rivet reported that John McAfee would be the key speaker at Malta Blockchain Summit, set to take place next month.
As the small but densely-populated island continues its march towards becoming one of the world’s leading hubs for blockchain technology, the announcement will do Malta’s reputation no harm as it brings one of the biggest names in technology to its shores.
The conference – which will also be attended by Coin Rivet as we deliver full coverage of the event – boasts 300 sponsors as well as 100 speakers. But it will be the colourful McAfee who is certain to be the main attraction on 1st and 2nd November.
The announcement has created a buzz of excitement among organisers of the event at the InterContinental in St Julian’s. “We are extremely excited to have with us the legendary John McAfee on the Blockchain Island this November,” said Eman Pulis, Founder and CEO of the Malta Blockchain Summit.
“As one of the most prominent characters in the crypto space, we are certain that McAfee will provide a monumental contribution to the gravity of the show and the overall excitement around the summit.”
