The Worldwide Asset eXchange (WAX) is hosting a giveaway of merchandise signed by legendary boxer Mike Tyson to celebrate the former heavyweight champion becoming the latest owner of a Fan Controlled Football League (FCFL) team.
The FCFL is a real-world football league where the fans are in charge. Via an interactive video overlay on Twitch or in the FCFL app, fans will call all of the plays in real time for the eight teams in the new league.
The outcome of each fan vote will be relayed to the quarterback and executed on the field. All of the games in this new league will be live-streamed on Twitch.
To celebrate the acquisition of Mike Tyson as a team owner, the FCFL will be giving away signed merchandise on the WAX blockchain.
WAX – an online marketplace which facilitates the trading of virtual items on the blockchain – announced the giveaway on its Twitter page.
The tweet reads: “Win Mike Tyson autographed merchandise on WAX! FCFL announced today that Tyson is the league’s newest team owner. To celebrate, they’re giving away signed boxing gloves, match-worn shoes, and a football – all on the WAX blockchain.”

Speaking on his involvement with the FCFL, Mike Tyson said: “I’m pleased to come on board as the owner of the newest FCFL team. I’m excited to work with the fans to create the Baddest League on the Planet.”
The move should help WAX garner more mainstream attention through its association with one of the boxing world’s greatest athletes in Mike Tyson.
WAX has been working hard towards its goal of global adoption recently. In an exclusive interview with Coin Rivet, CEO William Quigley stated that the company plans to port all OPSkins transactions – of which there are up to two million per week – to the WAX network.
Having Mike Tyson’s name on the blockchain through his signed merchandise marks yet another publicity boost for the cryptocurrency and blockchain space.
Recently, Laurence Fishburne highlighted the benefits of blockchain on an episode of ‘Behind The Scenes with Laurence Fishburne’, while NFL star Russel Okung also announced that he would be hosting a meetup for Bitcoin beginners in LA in September.
