Blockchain network Polygon has scouted former YouTube head of gaming Ryan Wyatt to become the CEO of its NFT and gaming arm.
Wyatt took to Twitter to announce his departure from YouTube at the end of February and to expand on the reasons behind his move into the crypto industry.
The new appointment- who owns an ‘.eth’ domain name – noted his previous interest in cryptocurrencies in the tweet, saying “I am fascinated by blockchain app development and am beyond thrilled to enter the Web3 space”.
Wyatt then expanded on his role at Polygon Studios, the gaming and NFT arm of Polygon that comprises popular projects like Animoca Brands, OpenSea, The Sandbox and Decentraland.
“In my role at Polygon Studios, I will be focused on growing the developer ecosystem through investment, marketing and developer support and bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3,” he added.
It’s now expected that Wyatt will be tasked with building out the emerging blockchain gaming ecosystem for Polygon, an ‘environmentally-friendly’ Ethereum scaling solution.
